Created short term and long term hiring plans that accounting for their very unique requirements: skilled talent on short notice / willing to relocate to a third world country immediately after a major natural disaster / live in communal housing with significantly reduced salaries. I joined All Hands as a Volunteer in Tacloban, Leyte, Philippines in May of 2015. I worked on a residential rebuild project in barangay 83-C. I was so impressed with the work All Hands was doing, I created a blog to illustrate the stories of the families whose lives had been changed by receiving a new house. I was able, in three weeks, to raise enough money to build an additional house in 83-C. In June 2015, three days after returning from the Philippines I was asked to go to Houston, Texas to join a flood relief project. I lead teams ranging in size from 5-25 volunteers, seven days a week. I was on Project Texas for six weeks and during this time, given the opportunity to join Project Nepal. I went to Kathmandu in October 2015 and lead various teams doing debris management throughout the Kathmandu valley. While on project Nepal, I created a proposal for a formal recruitment department that could respond to the unique and ever changing needs of an emergency response organization. In collaboration with the Director of International Recovery & Rebuild, the International Director of Emergency Response, and the CEO, I created a plan that All Hands could implement to ensure a more formal, organized, yet responsive approach to recruitment at all levels within the organization.
