We discussed alternatives and Igor proposed, designed, and implemented a creative solution that was intuitive to use and did not disrupt the existing system at all. He rapidly implemented a tree structure interface that allowed the users to navigate to the screen they needed easily and quickly. The new GUI was superimposed on the existing system, so it didn’t require any reprogramming of the existing system. User experience improvements and usability enhancements were added while all existing functionality of the legacy system remained intact and available. The processing gains were enormous reducing the time it took to make entries to about 30% of what it took using the linear screens method (70% reduction of time).
