Lead teacher of A-level PhysicsAs the experienced Physics teacher of the school, I have created the Schemes of Work for Key Stage 5 and have been responsible for managing the delivery of the course amongst the teaching staff. For the past three years, I have selected and planned the ISA practical examinations for Years 12 & 13. This has resulted in students attaining a 100% pass rate in their ISA exams. I have made use of targeted exam analysis and tracking and have set up weekly afterschool sessions to improve the understanding and attainment of the weakest students in the course. The results of these implementations have been a sharp increase in the pass rate for the school’s A-level course. The pass rate has been raised to 96% for the 22 students for 2015. This has been the highest pass rate for 5 years and the first time that the schools pass rate has gone above 88% since the year 2011. I have also taken on the responsibility of providing regular guidance to the other physics teachers in regards to lesson planning and delivery of course content. Show less

I am always interested in using technology to improve the delivery of lessons as well as improving analysis of student progress. I have used my computing skills to create a number of trackers and presentation add-ons that have been adopted by the department to promote better teaching and learning.

I was responsible for planning and organisation of the school’s Year 11 GCSE science course: In this role I executed the deployment of the Additional and Further Additional programmes with the use of a weekly overview across the science department. Accountability and quality assurance was implemented by use of book checks, learning walks and student voices throughout the year, along with regular correspondence with teaching staff. Student data was monitored closely for us to be able to enhance pupil achievement; this was done by use of frequent tracking analysis to identify students most at risk. Interventions were done in the forms of setting up of lunchtime catch up classes as well as afterschool remedial lessons to ensure continued progression of students identified as having their attainment to be at risk. Leading of preparation of both staff and students for the practical ISA examination, as well as made the arrangements for the in house moderation of more than 200 exam papers. Show less
