In my role as a Physical Therapy Aide at Elevate Physical Therapy, I first and foremost connect with every patient to lay a foundation of trust, communication, and care within the clinic. I provide assistance to the Physical Therapists by greeting and checking in patients, delivering paperwork, guiding and correcting the form of therapeutic exercises, and administering treatment modalities such as heat, electrical stimulations, and icing. I am also involved with office administration duties, such as maintaining the cleanliness of the equipment and office space, laundering soiled linens and towels, completing opening and closing duties, taking phone calls, scanning documents, and taking copayments. During all my duties I maintain professionalism and operate under privacy guidelines set by HIPAA standards. I enjoy connecting with every patient, learning more about physical therapy best practices, and observing therapeutic techniques such as cupping, dry needling, the Graston technique, Selective Functional Movement Assessment, and Kinesiotaping. As a Research Assistant, I am contributing to the study regarding the use of video self-modeling as a motor skill learning technique for autistic children in the lab of Dr. Liliane Savard. We collaborate on problem-solving to make necessary procedural adjustments to maintain proper movement laboratory techniques. I engage in subject recruitment and screening, and I organize this participant information in the HIPAA-secure REDCap and QMinim databases. I am the main operator of the Opal wearable movement sensor technology that is used to record and measure body kinematics. I help to set up the laboratory field and calibrate the GoPro cameras for accurate measurement and recording. I import the video recordings into the Kinovea software for video movement analysis and measurement data collection. We had the opportunity to present our initial findings at the 2022 American Physical Therapy Association Conference, where I led a group tutorial of how to create a video self-model in real-world application using iMovie software. A subsequent project emerged as part of our research, and I am currently drafting an additional publication validating our lens distortion correction procedure. I presented the preliminary findings of this validation study at the 2022 Ziegler Research Forum. Show less

    • Research Intern
      • Jun 2022 - Aug 2022

During my summer internship at the University of Massachusetts Laboratory for the Scientific Study of Dance, I had the opportunity to read current literature and publications in the field of Dance Science. I conducted an interview with three major dance scientists regarding their work in using the IMPROVment Method, a dance improvisation framework, as an intervention for individuals with dementia and Parkinson's Disease. Following these interviews, I wrote a publication on our discussion for the "gravity" database. Additionally, I helped to promote ongoing research studies as well as the 2023 Dance Science Symposium by creating recruitment flyers and marketing material. This summer internship was a fantastic opportunity to blend my interests in scientific research and dance. Show less

      • Sep 2017 - Jun 2021

I used my experience as a dancer to provide successful dance instruction to children between the ages of 2 and 17. I taught classes in a variety of styles, including ballet, jazz, hip hop, and acrobatics. I constructively critiqued technique and execution of dance. I also utilized my exercise science knowledge to facilitate a group fitness environment, promoting safe aerobic activity, strengthening, and stretching with proper scaffolding. Additionally, I worked as a crew member during the annual recital, helping to maintain smooth performance operation. Show less
