Joachim Vilhelmsson
I was working with Ida between 2014-2015 were we cooperated closely in the product group. Ida was very positive, eager to learn and absorbed new information easily. She adapted to situations she was put into and she gained respect among the workshop personnel as a professional engineer who could support them with what they needed. I saw a fighter in Ida as she never gave up and did not accept any failures in tough and stressful situations. To me that indicate discipline you don’t get in a school bench or on a workplace but rather trained through her interest in sports activities. Ida is, as a person, very social and contributed a lot to the social interaction in our group and simply made our working environment to a better place. She left a big empty hole in the team when she left the company.

During this year I have completed a course in AutoCAD and Revit to broaden my design skills. I got the opportunity to do an internship at Focus Software AS, Billingstad. I helped their clients in the civil industry with updates of CAD-models in Auto-CAD 2D and 3D and updates of Vardak library/ product library. Technical understanding about the design, the use of the different products and the civil industry was needed for this work. Consultant for AO Partners at Aker Solutions Subsea, Tooling Group.My assignment was to be product owner and design engineer for two different security tools that are used to disconnect the oil rig from the production line in times of emergency. The work included skills in SolidWorks CAD-design, quality issues, cost effectiveness, documentation and handling many different standards (eg ISO and NORSOK). During my employment I designed generic tools that will cope with minor adjustments in future projects and the lead times was shortened by 50% against the previous projects due to design and material changes.

Consultant for HRM Engineering at Volvo Group Trucks Technology as a mechanical design engineer.The assignment consisted product development of new truck models in projects and also with the ongoing maintenance of existing products. My responsibilities as a design engineer were primarily routing of wiring harnesses and positioning the electronic components in the CAD program Pro Engineering Creo to secure the mounting with help of standard items and by developing new console items. Questions concerning assembly ergonomics, aftermarket handling, chafing risk, heating areas and variant combinations were most common in this work.I spent just as much time in front of the computer as I went to the workshop to test mount my construction ideas with prototypes, participated in the cross functional verification workshops and followed the assembly in the factory. I also had the responsibility to send some of the work down to India and to follow up the work that were done there.
