My experience is both broad and deep gained by exposure to different sectors and working for different corporate functions. I identify four main project types in my portfolio; . Business strategy; direction and organisation, business process renewal, stakeholder (internal/external) engagement, innovation and service development. . Communications, B2B technical communications on issues such as strategy, processes, practices and performance. Hands on development of engagement processes, content development, structure, authoring, editing and design management through various channels including corporate sustainability reports. Proof reading and word-smithing into business English . Systems and frameworks; policies, procedures, metrics, standards, codes- attaining compliance and assurance against international standards. . Research and future trends. Issue specific projects e.g. business development (funding), natural capital accounting, community investment, human rights in business, ethics, environmental impact, and employee engagement Naturally these are supported by strong record of management experience in areas such as team running, project delivery, budgeting and relationship building. Specific sector experience: tertiary education, transport/distribution, food & drink, bio-tech/pharmaceuticals, utilities, telecoms & ITC, oil-gas, construction, finance, hospitality and urban design. Clients in Denmark, Norway, UK, US and globally. Recent assignments include project scoping for UN Global Principles (on business human rights), UNGC review, embedding human rights in business processes, corporate tax transparency and a feasibility study on the Scandinavian clothing sector. My broad role covered the following main areas; service innovation, delivery & performance, relationship management, organisational development and marketing. For example; • Strategic responsibility for communications service lines. Tasks stretched from identifying needs, markets and and regulatory changes, through to prospect engagement and piloting to contractual issues, scoping work packages, pricing issues and onwards. Special responsibility for strategy and reporting projects • My wide experience and range of strategic management tools enabled me to forge and implement new technical solutions to improve internal and client processes. • Through a structured approach to data checking, site inspection, staff interview and secondary research I provided third-party technical assurance to international standards (f ex. GRI, CDP, ISAE3000, AA1000). Following the evidence trail I looked at policies, procedures and reporting, for example on carbon, water, health and safety and code of conduct etc. I advised on corrective actions, provided public declarations and presented longer-term recommendations via a management report. • Bringing together and managing multi-disciplinary teams with the right mix of competencies was core to my role. I negotiated sub-contractor terms, created and co-ordinated work plans and timelines. It was not all me all the time and delegating responsibilities and monitoring was a core part of team development. • I advised on hot topics in CSR including values and ethics, employee engagement, community affairs, diversity, outputs/impact measurement • As a member of the management team I was responsive to the needs of the business. No two days were alike; at any point I could for example, be in a client progress meeting, comparing competitive tenders, briefing developers on an IT solution or checking contract deviations. I also made teas and coffees. Show less
