Employed as a food runner and waiter presented me with an opportunity to develop my customer-service and interpersonal skills. Addressing customer concerns using a systematic approach was essential to maintain their satisfaction. This included being polite and friendly which I was excellent at. Working efficiently whilst maintaining adequate standards of tasks was required. Shadowing a medical doctor and being involved with a multidisciplinary team taught me valuable skills when working with vulnerable people. This included advanced attentiveness and empathy. The responsibility of speaking to patients both at reception and in clinic presented me with opportunities to upgrade my communication skills. I was able to apply my proficient emotional intelligence to neutralise the emotions of patients including a woman who was suffering from drug addiction. Providing foreign people with English lessons and looking after children was fulfilling. It ameliorated my organisation skills and ability to meet deadlines. I ensured a satisfactory level of flexibility tailored to the needs of each student in my presentations. To provide the best lessons I ensured exceptional management skills. I adopted a transactional leadership style guiding my students to progress. Serving customers as part of a pharmaceutical team developed my potential to work in a team effectively. This contributed in my ability to split roles with colleagues to bring efficiency to our work. I applied problem-solving skills that I had obtained from academia to guide customers to medications. A breadth of knowledge on diseases helped my decision making capacity when giving advice to customers.
