  As part of my senior thesis project, actively involved in ongoing research to investigate the effects of various cytokines on Drosophila fly behavior, gaining a wide range of skills including communication, analytical, and research-related skills. Research focused on understanding how cytokines, which are signaling molecules, affect the behavior of Drosophila flies using a combination of techniques including molecular biology, genetics, and behavioral assays. Work under the guidance of Afroditi and Josh postdoctoral fellows in the lab, who have been instrumental in providing mentorship, guidance and support to conduct research successfully. The results of this research has potential to have significant impact on understanding the mechanisms underlying behavior in Drosophila and other organisms and improve understanding of disease pathology and potential therapeutics for a wide range of human diseases.
