The IAU Global Wine Studies Program is offered in Aix-en-Provence, France. Students have the opportunity to learn about the many facets of the global wine industry including wine styles and regions, marketing, economics, wine and food pairing, consumer behavior and developing professional tasting skills. Coursework includes visits to wineries, vineyards, associations and more. Students may obtain a full Certificate in Global Wine Studies during the Spring or Fall Semester or courses can be taken individually. In addition to semester courses, a six week summer session and traveling January Term are available. IAU is a nonprofit educational institution which is governed by a board of trustees. The current board has sixteen members, nine of whom are IAU alumni. This governing board's fundamental responsibility is to chart the institution's course and ensure that the institution has the resources it needs to fulfill its mission. The board is responsible for the appointment of the president and oversight of his duties. The board supports the president to ensure the institution’s engagement in sound strategic planning. The board also has a unique fiduciary role in finance and budgeting, in endowment and investment management, and in preserving and expanding physical resources. Show less
