The Sustainable Energy Management degree that I received from at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF) has provided me with a varied yet thorough education that spans many important subjects; specifically, I have learned how to survey and study sites, prepare Environmental Impact Analyses in accordance with NEPA and SEQR, undertake Life Cycle Assessments, and perform energy audits for buildings. Additionally, I am proficient in GIS software, and I have a firm understanding of both Environmental and Business Law. My time at SUNY-ESF, as well as my time interning with the Land Conservancy of New Jersey and the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions, has provided me with many hands-on experiences both in the field and in the office. Furthermore, I possess strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as a firm grasp on the importance of discipline, coordination, time management, and effective leadership, that have been sharpened and driven by the demands of professional settings. Intern
-
2015 - 2015
During the summer of 2014 I spent roughly 3 months working as an intern for the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions. During my time with ANJEC I received first-hand experience with the inner workings of local politics and environmental lobbying by interacting with local environmental commission leaders and politicians. Additionally, I gathered data and information on the various causes of the organization, which included issues such as water management, open space, and community planning, and the effectiveness of plastic bag bans and taxes. Stewardship Intern
-
Mar 2014 - Aug 2014
During the summer of 2014 I spent roughly 3 months working as the Stewardship Intern for the Land Conservancy of New Jersey, located in the town of Boonton. My primary duty was to assist the field supervisor Dennis Briede in a variety of reforestation and restoration projects throughout the properties owned by the Land Conservancy. Alongside this, my duties included working with corporate volunteers through the Conservancy’s Partners for Parks program, and to continually work on maintaining the Conservancy’s community garden, as well as to assist another intern in collecting species and health data for trees planted in the town of Montville by the town’s municipality.
