I had the privilege to work with Ian on the INDUCT project that is deployed as a proof-of-concept at a challenging real-world customer site. The product was being continuously developed and improved while handling real-world production items. Ian’s background is in neither robotics nor logistics. However, he has a very positive attitude that absorbs whatever he observes and creates a big picture understanding the best out of a subject. He has never been afraid of any challenging problem and has constantly been proactive to ask for more than what he is required to perform at a job. As his mentor, I just had to suggest an introductory idea, and Ian just takes it to the next level. The result is we probably learned the customer’s system better than the customer understood, which we can give feedback to improve our system. I have to admit that I learned more from Ian than Ian learned from me. I am confident that Ian will propel in any job that requires rigorous analytical thinking. I appreciate the contribution Ian made to both the product improvement and my understanding of a new subject.
