I have worked with Ian for many years on Boards of Directors and as colleagues in the education field. Ian is a leader with drive and energy and a desire to make a positive difference in the community. He is thoughtful and innovative in his approach and is willing to take calculated risks to make real improvements to how things are done. He is always keen to continue to learn and engage with new ideas and thinking and inspires the same in others.

GFM Education Ltd is a Multi-Academy Trust in Gosport, UK consisting secondary, primary and special (SEMH) schools, plus Alternative Provision units. The GFM includes Bay House School, an 11-18 provision with nationally acclaimed sixth form, where I was headteacher 2002 to 2019. All five Ofsted Inspections during those years judged leadership and management to be outstanding. Since the GFM was formed in April 2017, inspections of three of its other schools all reported judgement outcomes that were an improvement on the schools' previous inspection reports. The GFM is a 'local' MAT serving over 4000 learners in a coastal area with significant socio-economic deprivation. The schools are in close geographical proximity working collaboratively to achieve a collective endeavour, which is linked to the prospects of the young people, their families and the whole town. Endeavouring together, across the system locally, is what makes the difference. Trustee, British Educational Leadership, Management & Administration Society 2013 – Present A global organisation bringing together practitioners and academics to disseminate knowledge and define best practice for educational leadership and management. Previously elected Vice Chair, now Chair in 2020. Committee Member, British Education Research Association 2014 – Present Acted as a long-standing practitioner representative, advising the board on conference and events programmes.
