I have had the pleasure of working with Ian since August 2014 at the British School of Beijing. As the Head of Primary PE, I have observed Ian’s lessons and interactions with the students. He differentiates well and has a great relationship with those in his care. Ian is extremely professional with students, colleagues and parents. He is an excellent forward thinker and plans lessons and sports units well. Ian has been instrumental in helping with the running of colour house competitions that take place at the end of each sports unit; as well as the after school Primary sports program. I organize and manage all Primary after school sports team’s practices and tournaments. During the 2014-2016 school year Ian has coached both Primary and Secondary sports, which is an over and above his expectation. The Secondary sports Ian has coached since August 2014 include: U15 FOBISIA, U19 and U13 girls football, U13 and JV girls volleyball. He has coached the following Primary sports: Season 1 - U11 boys football team; Season 2 - U11 boys handball; Season 3 - U11 boys and girls tball; Season 4 - U11 boys travelling team which take part in FOBISIA (Federation of British International School in Asia) ‘the friendly games’. The FOBISIA team takes part in 4 competitions – athletics, swimming, tball and football over the course of 3 days. The training sessions run for 5 days of the week with both morning and after school practices. Ian is a keen and enthusiastic teacher and sports coach in multiple disciplines and it is pleasure to have had him as part of the coaching team. He has been an integral part of the Primary coaching team and I would recommend him to coach Primary or Secondary school sports as he is an extremely keen coach, who is willing to coach a breath of sports and engages well with the students in his care.

I have had the pleasure of working with Ian for two years at The British School of Beijing. Ian is hardworking, diligent and a valued member of the PE department. He demonstrates and leads by example, his PE lessons are fun, yet challenging and he will always offer support and advice where needed in order to develop the children in his care. Ian is incredibly passionate about his subject and I have no doubt that he would make an immediate impact in any PE department as a teacher or a leader.
