I first met Ian in Calgary in 2007 regarding offset sales. We later attended a conference in NYC at the same time, where we continued in negotiations. Since this time we have met on several occasions regarding business and continue to do so. I find Ian both informative and interesting, with a wide-ranging knowledge of the carbon credit world. It is always with keen interest I enter a meeting with Ian

It was a long held ambition to start a specialized fitness facility so I opened a personal training and athletic therapy facility in March 2018. The vision was to build a fitness facility with a focus on functional strength and pain management. This is a standalone gym, not part of a franchise so I designed the products, marketing strategy as well as operated the day to day financial control, operations and administration. The gym is still operating and successful, I have segued to a non exec role. Show less

Founding shareholder of a unique company that provided a financial solution to a newly legislated liability. At the inception of the carbon market, we designed and marketed a fund solution for global large emitters to meet the carbon liability that would be crystallized by the European Union carbon legislation, and (at that time) forthcoming Kyoto Protocol legislation that would directly impact all signatories. The initial business model was an asset management solution, and we closed with significant commitments from large scale European utilities and a Japanese trading house. Subsequently we expanded our focus and entered into a joint venture with an investment grade global oil and gas trading company, which resulted in our company managing an overall trading book of approximately $700 million of carbon assets sourced directly from project developers. I was responsible for managing the overall operational risk and management reporting of the portfolio of projects comprising diverse technologies, situated in China and South America. This encompassed the ongoing management of all aspects of the Chinese business, including the office and staffing in Beijing. It also required regular travel throughout China and working closely with multiple Chinese governmental departments / project owners and stakeholders. The Company then evolved into a more direct project development role, including projects in Southern Africa that have been financed by the shareholders. The primary initiative is a logistics company in Mozambique to capitalize on one of Africa’s quickest growing economies and focus on delivering local logistical solutions in a port handling multi-billion dollar inward investment from resource companies in Europe / Brazil / Russia and China.
