As CTO I lead the evaluation and application of new and emerging technologies to Spatial Vision’s services and products. I also play a leading role in the development of solution architectures for client applications and provide consulting services to customers in IT and information systems. Recently I led the design and development of SavBAT—a web-based tool which allows landholders in northern Australia to successfully participate in fire management projects. I’m particularly proud that we integrated indigenous fire management knowledge into the tool, and provide a valuable source of income for landholders, including indigenous cooperatives and communities—all while helping reduce carbon emissions. It’s important to work in an area you can feel proud of and which, in a very modest way, leaves the world a better place.
