Majority of work was performed in a backcountry setting, requiring extended stays of 8-14 days in remote arctic and sub-arctic conditions seasonally from May to September. Performing the duties of lead river ranger as well as lead trail ranger when performing trail duties. Assisted Outdoor Recreation Planners in the management and maintenance of over 1000 miles of trails and 2 National Wild and Scenic Rivers (NWSR) within the Field Office's 7 million acres of managed land. Supervised crews of up to 10 people on OHV and foot trail maintenance projects. Additionally, crossed trained to carry out the duties of biological science technician and wildlife technician. Planned and carried out river patrols managing visitor use on the Delta NWSR and the Gulkana NWSR as well as the Tazlina and Tonsina Rivers and the Tangle Lakes located in the Tangle Lakes Archeological District. Demonstrated proficiency in navigating Class I-IV rapids utilizing both rafts and canoes. Assisted Law Enforcement Rangers by documenting and investigating illegal and irresponsible activities conducted within the district. Organized and collected data to provide future guidance for both river and trail management direction. Inspected, eliminated, and reduced hazards on rivers and trails. Prepared and lead safety sessions for volunteers and seasonal employees. Responded to emergency situations and took necessary actions to administer rescue and first aid. Show less
