    • Revision course teacher and author

Oxford Study Courses run revision courses and summer camps in various locations around the world. After teaching on them for a couple of years I felt that it would be useful to produce revision guides (as opposed to text books) which mirrored the style of the courses: intensive, no-frills revision to prepare students for exams. The maths books which resulted now cover all aspects of the courses. OSC no longer act as publisher, so authors have transferred to a new company, Peak Study Resources www.peakib.com

    • Director ICT Services, CCF Contingent Commander
      • 2000 - 2015

Originally appointed to teach Maths and run the Combined Cadet Force at Tonbridge, I moved over to ICT services in 2004. I rely on a highly competent and motivated team to maintain and develop the infrastructure and client side, whilst I concentrate on applications, support and training. My main aim is to try and ensure that our users - academic staff, support staff and boys - have a reliable, safe and efficient IT system which manages all their needs whilst they get on with their jobs. I also see training as an important part of the job - most people pick up IT as they go along, but could be so much more efficient with even a little training, and therefore enjoy their work more.I also assist other schools with IT audits, in particular reporting to SMTs on the management of their IT departments, budgetary control, infrastructure. As Contingent Commander I am responsible for the running of the 200 strong Combined Cadet Force. I was first appointed as a CCF RN officer in 1981, and rose to Deputy Contingent Commander at Sevenoaks School. On appointment to Tonbridge I was promoted Commander (CCF) RNR and took up the position of Contingent Commander. The CCF is primarily dedicated to leadership training, and it has always been my aim to develop leadership skills in cadets which will stand them in good stead in whatever field they choose to work. It is good to see that current government policy is to expand the CCF to include many more schools.

Management Backup provided customised database applications for business, but often found that those who worked for their clients needed computer training. My brief was to build up a training operation which would become part of Management Backup's offering to clients.
