Brought in to carry out the witnessing of fault free running of the Siemens Class 700 train. Working along side Siemens engineers, understanding the systems being GSMR, ERTMS & ECTS along with the Operational running. Although this role is not normally one I would take on, this has given me the opportunity not only to work on yet another type of train build but to also gain knowledge of systems (being the future) not previously worked with as well as having a chance to gain experience of Siemens work ethic. Test & Control Project Engineer - TBTC
-
Jul 2009 - Jul 2011
Position was to control the testing of trainbourne equipment within the lab for the TBTC JNUP upgrade. Organise daily activities for the technicians on both days and nightshift. Other requirements were to collate all documentation, ensuring all is intact and submitted to Doc Control in Toronto. Equipment coming in from different locations had to be controlled & tested in the laboratory, and passed ready for fitment to the trains. Any faulty equipment had to be diagnosed on the Second Line Maintenance Tool (SLMD), and reported back to the Material Review Board. SLMD is a train simulator. Other equipment upgrades (software) also had to be carried out and controlled. After 2 weeks, the division was running smoother and all databases were completed in the correct manner. This methodology now used made it easier to meet site demands, and were ahead of target delivery dates for sites. Due to work being completed, I became involved in testing & fault finding when necessary. Towards the end I was supporting Tubelines, for failure investigations, during Revenue service. Reliability investigations also carried out. The final month, I was on loan to Thales Crawley to set up a UK Repair Centre for TBTC equipment. This also involved training a number of Engineers on TBTC, systems, and fault diagnosis and repair. Show less

Train Installation Manager - Connect Project
-
Apr 2005 - Dec 2008
Completion of the Train Mobile installation for all stocks on the London Underground Connect Project after over 3 and half years with Fluor. The project involved installing the new TETRA Train Radio system. All 11 lines of the Tube network are now running on Connect Radio and all installs were successful. Managing 3 different Sub Contracting companies (depending on which stock), each with approximately 15 to 30 staff. My work involved reviewing the designers and installers documentation, Method Statements, reviewing repairs on defective equipment. Site visits to ensure Health & Safety/ QA standards were adhered to. Writing Work Instructions/ Method Statements was also part of my work load. In addition I was also involved in the software control, training staff in the programming of the Train Radio equipment. The project itself being very challenging in many aspects, but the commitment to complete was worthwhile and very rewarding. Show less
