·A sales role was available and the position with RPS Switchgear fit my skill base perfectly. I decided to apply despite my short time back with KONE, as sales was an area I had always wanted to move into. I started as a Sales Engineer working on tenders for New Zealand and Australia. This involved client communication, tender preparation and submission and outside price sourcing. Putting together contract folders, liaising with engineering on special requests and follow-up on tender progress and award.· After 4 months the existing Sales Manager retired and I was asked to fill his position. I was appointed to the RPS management team and oversaw the Australian operation until a new Technical Sales Manager (ex Reyrolle England) was appointed in May.·My current role requires considerable New Zealand wide client contact and it is essential that I am able to build positive trusting relationships with my clients. I have a special focus on finding new clients and rebuilding relationships with lapsed customers. To do this I use old Reyrolle databases, Tender websites and Utilities asset management plans to find potential users of high voltage switchgear.·To compliment the above I develop trip schedules designed to maximise number of contacts with effective time management. These are followed up with comprehensive trip reports.·Other activities include organising of trade show displays, client giveaways, branded clothing and training of new sales staff
