In this role, I oversaw strategy, development and maintenance of the College’s estate, comprising five academic campuses, residences and sports grounds with a £50m annual budget and £100m annual capital investment programme. Key Achievements:• Conducted a strategic review for redeveloping the College’s Strand campus, improving value, sustainability and delivering a successful solution for a £40m refurbishment to the Grade I listed 1829 building.• Completed multiple projects on historic buildings up to £35m in value and new building projects up to £40m. • Represented the College on external bodies including the North Bank Business Improvement District and South Bank Employer’s Group. I also supported North Bank as a board member through its transition into a BID.• Managed a Public Private Partnership contract for two large academic buildings and carried out a joint efficiency review in 2014, leading to service adjustments, in-housing operations and sustainability initiatives that have generated over £1m in value annually with improved satisfaction scores from occupants.• Championed sustainability for the College with targets for the existing estates, new and refurbishment projects and through recognition via external awards. • Drove the business case for the new Director of Space Management position and established an in-house planning and design team, reducing consultancy fees and providing a reputed service. • Implemented a staff development and training programme, including a staff mentoring scheme. I am a founding member of this unique hybrid academia and design organisation, initially established by the RIBA and now an independent charity with activity in research, study visits and knowledge sharing. From 2011 to 2015 I led the Trustee Board as Chair. Key Achievements: • As Chairman, led HEDQF through to independence in response to reduced funding and administrative support. I devised the charity model and drove the successful Charity Commission application. • Following my tenure as Chairman, I was appointed as Chairman of the Events Group. I successfully ran the annual conferences, with attendances of up to 230, to share knowledge and raise critical funding for the charity. Show less

I delivered estate rationalisation and improvements as the former polytechnic became independent from local authority control, thus inheriting a mixed estate and buildings portfolio. As Project Director for the Sheffield Hallam University city centre campus strategy, I implemented an ambitious estate rationalisation, the initial phase of which was a £25m redevelopment project to create new learning and social facilities with an innovative partnership funding model.
