While in Australia I had the pleasure of being a student of Ians in several subjects. His teaching style was engaging and I enjoyed his classes thoroughly. He related theory with practical examples and involved me and my fellow students. I wish there were more professors like him.

The macro environmental structures that make up Asian and American banking, finance and trade remain a major focus of mine. I am currently writing two manuscripts and developing a number of papers on US-Asian and Asia alone banking and commercial history and contemporary policy. I have published work that examines Chinese Investment into the Australian mining sector and this was launched at the Australia China Chamber of Commerce in Melbourne. This work was conducted with Xueli Huang and published by Palgrave McMillan. It is aimed directly at business and policymakers. I have also completed a new project on Singapore-Australia strategic, commercial and cultural relations covering commercial aspects and human engagement aspects of the relationship. Finally I continue my work in areas politics and public policy in Australia utilising the knowledge and skills I have developed form working on projects in Asia.

I have previously run my own consultancy in Singapore covering Southeast Asian and Asian political and economic risk. This was conducted in collaboration with a service provider. The consultancy focused on providing professionals, often on international rotation, with policy coverage of Singapore and Southeast Asian affairs. Clients were largely focused on regional banking and finance as the consultancy operated from offices on Shenton Way. The consultancy focused on providing these professionals, often on international rotation, with policy coverage of Singapore and Southeast Asian affairs. Since returning to Australia in 2005 have continued to offer consultancy services on a case-by-case basis. Most of my consultancy today is for policymakers and the non-profit sector. Over the last 3 years I have consulted several domestic and international organisations on Australian resources and the political economy surrounding this sector, Singaporean and Asian organisations, Australian universities operating in Asia, and Asian universities introducing international programs.

I managed all academic programs covering Business in the Northern Campuses. This involved me managing the first year program at Carseldine and developing a complete three year business program which included a core first year program, followed by a double major in Management and Marketing. I was also located on site and very active in the physical and intellectual development of QUT's new campus in Caboolture. Caboolture is a suburb half way between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast identified as having a low tertiary enrolment profile.

    • Business Co-ordinator - Logistics and International Business
      • 1998 - 2000

Business and Logistics Management In this role I specialised in high valued-small value goods and services logistics. I worked with a multi-cultural team - members from Canada, Britain, Italy, Singapore, and others - to deliver product and design launches, fashion parades, resort design, audio-visual design and so on. I also managed a program that provided tertiary level education and training in the areas of international management and Asian management, with a focus on design. • Visiting Researcher
      • 1996 - 1998

I was able to be a PhD visitor at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) during this time and also conducted a number of contracts covering logistics and marketing in Singapore and across SE Asia. A major research project examined Australia-SE Asia economic relations, whilst and in the area of logistics I worked in areas of consumer goods and tourism. Bintan, Langkawi and Penang were two location in which I did early work in these areas. I can not speak highly enough of the ISEAS Library and general staff who assisted me during this time.

  • Wilson Logistics

    • Staff Member - Assistant
      • 1992 - 1996

Staff Member - I held this position during my UG and Masters Degrees Worked with 2 brilliant experienced staff member with years of logistics expereince. Learnt about the power of numbers and turnover and the diversity of careers in the logistics field. For my mind universities have not done a good job in informing students that logistics is not just moving large or bulk commodities around the world, but can be a very specialised profession focused on moving small-volume high value goods and services.
