Mechanical Design Engineer Graduate

I was hired into this role based on my previous internship experience in Logitech in Cork.I was placed back into the NEO Team, who are responsible for product R&D in Mixed Reality.I was brought in at the crucial design stage for the newly launched Logitech VR INK. Together with the whole hardware team, we delivered the VR INK mechanical design to a tight deadline.My role has included the following:Designed a variety of internal fixtures and features, including elements for button actuation, pcb fixing, haptic feedback, and other crucial features. Investigated and implemented Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) on all mechanical parts.Analysed, measured and testing first run samples of injection moulded parts.Designed, Assembled and tested rapidly prototyped design concepts. Supervise intern activities and work closely with interns on various tasks.

OnePlastics is a leading manufacturer of plastic products, which specialises in injection moulding and related services. Operating in Ireland, UK and China, OnePlastics designs and manufactures a range of products across a number of key markets and sectors. As well as designing and developing its own products, OnePlastics offers full contract manufacturing and related services to a number of multinationals.My role at OnePlastics is working in their newly formed ICE division, the Innovative Centre of Excellence. ICE is a Mechanical Design department responsible for supporting various OnePlastics Divisions as well as customers in meeting their Plastics needs. My main responsibilities since joining the company have been:To design new products based on customer requirements, Evaluate and optimize designs using Mold Flow analysis,Assist and support production facilities with Moldflow analysis on existing components,Provide DFM facilities for customer designs,And assist the Lead Engineer on various projects. Projects I have worked on to date include:Constructed a lid retention test to validate designs and compare containers, Designed a new range of Food Containers targeted at Irish and international markets, Created a library of existing Containers being produced by UK and Irish Divisions of OnePlastics, Assisted in the planning of a brand new clean room manufacturing facility, located in Little Island, Designed various containers to meet customer and market requirements, Designed brochures and technical datasheets for the complete range of containers being produced by the Protech Divisions of OnePlastics.
