      Developed to help resolve the issues related to staffing shortages produced by the medical staff EU working time directive being enforced. Was trained in-house with University support. Enrolled onto MSc Advanced Clinical Practice to work concurrently with the in-house teaching. University support included;- Non-Medical Prescribing - Assessed By Assignment and Portfolio- Advanced Clinical Examination Skills - Assessed by OSCE (12 Station)- Surgical Care Practitioner - Exam and VIVA- Research and Evidence to Inform Practice - Assignment- Work based Learning - Portfolio and assignment- Pathophysiology for Advanced Clinical Practice- Clinical Leadership - Assignment- Evidenced Based Dissertation - 15,000 Word Dissertation and presentation to peers.The in-house teachings were developed around the, then, Surgical Care Practitioner curriculum framework. Trainee-ship was 2-3 years developing many surgical and medical skills at Band 7. Once completed there was no band change. Role development ensued and the role latterly changed to 50% Theatre work (Independently harvesting Saphaneous vein (open method), 1st and 2nd assisting in elective and emergency and 50% Cardiac ICU management of post op patients. Deal with any pertaining issues and emergency situations that arose. Trained to perform a re-sternotomy in the event of cardiac arrest independently until senior help arrives.I was the first person to Graduate from the Robert Gordon University with a Master of Science degree in Advanced Clinical Practice (With Merit).I was also awarded the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Jennie Parry prize for Actual or Potential leadership and clinical excellence, 2012.
