      In October 2013 I joined a new meetup group with 30 members that had not had any meetings. In March 2014 the leadership resigned and I took over the role. In March 2016 and 10 meetups later there are 473 members and rising. It's grown into a community in Manchester that is the go to place for technical matters regarding velocity, volume, variety and veracity of data and the associated issues of ingesting and analysing. The group consists of Developers, DBAs, Architects, Statisticians, Mathematicians meeting regularly for sessions on latest technologies in and around the Hadoop eco system. Show less

      Attained CCDH 25th September. Formal Hadoop training on the Cloudera 4 day course at the training centre in London Sept 10-13. I have spent many weeks looking into the Hadoop eco system and the various distributions and use cases. I am particularly interested in the science of data analysis i.e. recommendation, clustering, classification in contrast to my many years of “sales orders by week” aggregation.
