I was very fortunate to be able to still work at my summer internship, while all the Coronavirus epidemic was happening. Some of my friends and classmates were not so lucky. I worked with the procurement team at the Thomasville and Moultrie mills. I enjoyed and learned a lot about how they supply their mills with wood. It was also good experience on how to manage multiple logging crews, while also going to check out potential timber sales. The weather never seemed to be on our side, which… Show more I was very fortunate to be able to still work at my summer internship, while all the Coronavirus epidemic was happening. I started this job in the summer of 2016 and have been learning skills that will help me in the future for land management. I learned how to spray chemicals on a tractor and in ponds, I learned about managing pine forests and taking out hardwoods, I learned about prescribed burns and cover growth. I also was entrusted to maintain the owner's small farm by taking care of his animals, crops and organizing his barn. My dad is the manager of Rosemary and I have grown up on the plantation. I started working there when I was very young and have helped them with various projects including work on tractors, mechanical breakdowns of equipment, use of power tools: weedeaters, chainsaws, leaf blowers, etc. Working there taught me the value of hard work and I continue to expand my skills there every time I go home. I enjoyed working with the F4 Tech company and received a lot of hands-on training. I was able to work with some of their staff on hurricane Micheal clean up in Florida and South Georgia. The cruising work I did for them was not conventional cruising, the plots had more in depth analysis of the stand as a whole compared to just the standing volume. The best part about this job was being able to use and test out all of their software and hardware for data collection and cruising. I worked here for 2 years while I was still in high school. I had a lot more responsibility here than I originally thought I'd be given. I had to take care of all the animals on some weekends including very sick animals, very young animals and horses. The best thing I got of working here is it really helped build my communication skills and taught me how to work with people. Some other job duties I had were to clean surgical equipment, clean the front area for customers, had to do various… Show more I worked here for 2 years while I was still in high school.
