Fauji Foundation hospital is ISO certified and located in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. It was a full time 6 months internship program under supervision of highly qualified and experienced staff. -Worked in inpatient department (IPD) includes orthopedic, neurology, surgery, peadiatrics, neurosurgery, burn, gynae, rheumatology, oncology, psychiatry, and nephrology. Along with managing outpatient department (OPD), intern physiotherapists were given the responsibility to provide physiotherapy care to any of the above-mentioned wards. Physiotherapists were rotated through these wards daily. These rotations have provided me a valuable opportunity to practice the important skill of effective physiotherapy consultation and team management. In the wards, rounds were held daily with the consultant attending. Each ward contained a wide variety of cases providing broad exposure to a range of disorders that can result in illnesses. -One of the most interesting exposures was to work in the Artificial Limb Centre (ALC). Patients come to this department when they need orthosis and/ or prosthesis. Patients are assessed here with the consultation of a rehab specialist and then they are provided with the required orthosis and prosthesis. Once the prosthesis is ready, patients are educated and encouraged on early gait training by a physiotherapist. Commonly appearing cases in ALC are Amputation, Amelia, Clubfoot, Talipes Equinovarus (TEV), Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), Dysmelia, Delayed Milestones, Leprosy, Polio, Flat Foot, Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenital (AMC), Leg Length Discrepancy (LLD), Spinal Cord Injury, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Scoliosis, Hernia, Wrist Drop, Genu Valgum, Genu Varum, Rickets, Kyphosis, Pectus Excavatum, Pectus Carinatum, Charcot's Foot, Hereditary Sensory and Autonomic Neuropathy (HSAN), Stroke, Arthritis, and Fracture.
