Spoken Word Poet and Speaker
-
Mar 2017 - Aug 2021
As a spoken word poet, I seek to use my diverse history and experience to translate issues between different groups. My work features discussions on race, gender, relationships and violence and has opened doors that allow me to work with young people, helping them to explore their feelings in a constructive way.Topics include healthy relationships, men's mental health and positive masculinity, and servant leadership.I hope to expand the frame through which people see the world and create moments with my audience that they will remember, discuss in their circles and ultimately create a more compassionate New Zealand.

Marketing and Strategy Manager (Co-Founder)
-
Mar 2012 - Dec 2014
An opportunity arose in 2012 to export a rare food product internationally. Together my business partner and I won entrepreneur competitions, negotiated with members of parliament and gained the support of the Department of Conservation who granted us exclusive permits to pursue our project. We worked to build relations between various stakeholders including farmers, Lincoln University, the University of Canterbury and international importers and exporters within the UAE. We developed and successfully implemented a marketing strategy and created a brand which was well received by our overseas partners and investors. Unfortunately the venture failed however, the lessons I learned were invaluable to my development as a professional.
