Spent several years developing businesses and opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa with Clarke Energy, who also specialise in gas fired generation. Looking for opportunities in generating power from a whole host of “different gases” such as biogas, gases from coal mines, associated petroleum gas, as well as power generation from dirty, complex and difficult gases created by Industrial processes. When I joined the gas generation business from the waste industry in 2001, we developed a significant portfolio of generation facilities using landfill gas in the UK. When this business became saturated in the UK we took Ener-G around the world and diversified to countries like Spain, Poland, Lithuania, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, South Africa, Mexico, China and South America. Before being involved in the energy development business, I worked, since the mid 90’s in the waste disposal industry for the French waste management company, Veolia, where he developed his interest in power generation from methane gas and waste to energy. Prior to the waste industry, Hugh was a coal mining engineer specialising in opencast coal mining (strip mining) on sites throughout the UK, for British Coal.
