Bio
Neil Ward
I have worked with Hugh at Everest for several years and it has always been a pleasure. Hugh has repeatedly demonstrated an astute strategic vision with the products that he has brought to market, whilst at the same time being willing to roll up his sleeves and inject the energy and enthusiasm necessary to make the strategy a reality. Hugh clearly understands the wider commercial issues, has a good head for business, is reliable, good humoured and always delivers on his promises. I wish Hugh every success in the future.
Iain Shorthose
Hugh has a wealth of experience in the Home Improvements Marketing space - particuarly when it comes to taking new products and services from concept all the way through launch and then review. Hugh is a pleasure to work with, and contibutes equal value whether it be his area of expertise, or a pragmatic view required in a non-related area. A real work ethic, creative approach, a completer/ finisher, and strong personal intgrity makes Hugh a real professional in his chosen field.

Director at 49 Red Ltd

Oct 2017 - Present
With over 20 years' experience at or close to Board level in the fenestration and building products industries, I have a comprehensive understanding of the products in the market, the market dynamics and the most effective ways to generate profitable growth in this competitive arena. To complement my consultancy services, I founded a full service marketing agency called 49 Red Ltd. This enables me to both design an effective business strategy for my clients and to offer more tangible deliverables such as website design, advertising campaigns, literature, content marketing and more. Amongst a growing list of clients, I was retained by Merino Private Equity to sit on the Board of three of their portfolio companies (Komfort Partitioning, UK Performance Doors, Independent Plant Hire Group) and provide marketing support to their other businesses - a broad remit with a particular focus on business strategy, marketing, change management, lead generation and product development. --- 49 Red is a no-nonsense marketing agency that is set up to deliver great results across a comprehensive range of marketing activity, specifically helping small- to medium-sized businesses find, attract and retain new customers. Services include the following: business strategy, sales and marketing strategy, lead generation, copy writing, creating literature, organising events and exhibitions, quantitative and qualitative market research, business diversification, entering new markets, identifying opportunities for growth, market segmentation, digital marketing, SEO, website design, website analytics, advertising and PR, B2B and B2C, generating profitable growth, product development, product launches, brand management, positioning and differentiation, pricing, P&L management, product presentations, POS material, sales support material and more... Enquiries for any project, big or small, are welcome. For more details visit www.49red.co.uk or message me through LinkedIn. Show less

Head of Product Marketing
-
Jul 2003 - Apr 2012
An influential and active member of the Steering Group that worked alongside the Board, I successfully pursued a strategy of product development, bringing many new products to market over a period of almost 9 years. All generated significant levels of additional revenue and all of them returned a healthy profit. Leading a talented marketing team, I designed and developed all the literature and sales support material necessary for a direct sales force of around 1000 reps to be able to deliver a professional presentation in customers' homes. This included brochures, leaflets, sales presentations, DVDs, product samples and sales paperwork. To help ensure there was a steady flow of leads for all of our product groups, I wrote and checked copy for the website, blogs, other social media, advertising (ATL and BTL), direct mail, PR and other lead generation activities I was responsible for organising Everest's presence at a number of consumer exhibitions over the years. From selecting and negotiating the stand space, through to designing and building the stand and organising the associated advertising, PR and promotions. Show less
