I was appointed to the Board of Directors of Zahra Foundation Australia in December 2021. In July 2022, I was elected Deputy Chair of the Board by my fellow directors. The Foundation is a charitable organisation based in South Australia with a mission to assist South Australian women and children affected by domestic and family violence. The Foundation does impressive and impactful work to empower women and provide pathways towards their economic independence. Its programs include financial counselling and grants that help women find financial stability. The Foundation's staff and leadership are highly motivated and effective, while my fellow Board members are impressive people from a diverse range of backgrounds.

    • Associate Director, Aggregate Risk
      • Nov 2019 - Nov 2020

I worked in Macquarie Group's RMG Aggregate Risk team in a role overseeing the group's equity portfolio. My focus was on designing, implementing and managing projects to monitor and manage Macquarie's large and diverse portfolio of equity investments. This involved working with a broad range of stakeholders to secure their cooperation and buy-in, as well as managing an excellent team to implement and continuously improve practical solutions. My work involved providing briefings, reports, dashboards and insights to Macquarie's Board, CEO and senior leadership not only about the equity portfolio composition, but also emerging portfolio trends, opportunities and risks.I also designed and managed Macquarie's scenario testing capability for its entire portfolio of equity investments. My work used the foundation of diverse analysis skills I had accumulated in previous roles and provided me with energising growth opportunities to strengthen my strategic perspective, influencing methods and my skills in managing change projects and stakeholders. I also developed a deeper appreciation of database systems, data analytics and meaningful reporting of diverse ranges of information.

My work focused on management and reporting on Macquarie Group's portfolio of equity assets, including management of new deal approval pipelines, portfolio management and establishing data systems. I also led an uplift project for Macquarie's stress testing capability for its equity portfolio.Following a re-organisation in November 2019, my team, as well as some other portfolio monitoring and management teams, moved into Macquarie's Aggregate Risk team.

    • Associate Director, RMG Credit
      • Jan 2014 - Dec 2018

I worked in Macquarie Group's US RMG Credit team, assessing opportunities for North American leveraged buyouts, underwriting for debt capital market transactions, direct lending opportunities and private equity investments. This was an exciting and energising experience working in a deep, liquid market. I focused heavily on underwriting leveraged debt for syndication, supporting private equity firms in their leveraged buy-outs of companies both in the US and in other markets. In this role, I was able to look at an incredibly broad and diverse range of businesses, deeply exploring various industries, business models, technologies, financing structures, key risks and opportunities with the assistance of some of the best due diligence advisers and industry experts in North America. While I mainly focused on leveraged debt underwriting and syndication, I was also highly involved in principal equity and debt investments made and held by Macquarie. This capitalised in my earlier experience in Asia, where I had made similar investments for Macquarie. This role gave me with frequent face time with Macquarie's CEO and other senior leadership members, providing great insights into strategic decision-making and leadership.

    • Associate Director, Macquarie Capital Principal Transactions Group
      • Mar 2008 - Dec 2013

I worked in Macquarie Capital’s Principal Transaction team from 2008 to 2013, focusing on on Macquarie Capital’s balance sheet investments across Asia. While my experience was largely weighted towards the equity end of the capital structure, I was highly involved in deals ranging across the capital structure, covering ordinary and preferred equity, hybrid equity, warrants, convertible bonds, mezzanine debt and senior debt. My experience included several successful exits, as well as experience in workouts and conflict management. While the majority of my deals were with Chinese companies, this role involved working with companies across Asia, from India to Indonesia to Japan. This gave me enjoyable experiences working and negotiating in different cultures with a wide range of industries, business models and leadership styles. Working across cultural and language boundaries was an energising and educational experience that has given me many great memories and experiences.

    • Senior Manager, Macquarie Capital Legal
      • Jan 2005 - Feb 2008

I joined Macquarie at the beginning of 2005 as a lawyer in the Investment Banking Group (later re-named Macquarie Capital). At that time, the business was focused on equity markets and I worked on a broad range of initial public offers, placements and secondary block trades, working with Chinese and companies from other Asian nations listing on the Hong Kong and Singapore exchanges. My work mainly involved legal negotiations on key agreements and reviewing due diligence.Over the same period, Macquarie invested in a wide range of companies across Asia. I was heavily involved in the due diligence and legal negotiations for these transactions from entry to exit. My high level of exposure and proactive involvement in these deals led to Macquarie asking me in 2008 to move into a banking role.
