The team is working on a flexible, carbon biopolymer aerogel for applications in high performance apparel, startup aerospace industries, and space exploration. Our Innovation Startup won the top honor, selected as Pete Conrad Scholars, in the Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge 2021 in the Aerospace and Aviation section. We were selected as a Top 10 Finalist across the nation to pitch our concept EcoGel and company SkyeLabs Innovation Inc. We became the sole Honorable Mention awarded in NASA iTech competition history as the youngest and first-ever high school team to have presented our NASA award-winning technology in the 2021 NASA iTech Cycle 1 initiative, an industry-level entrepreneurial competition meant to identify technological advancements that solve problems on Earth with the potential to aid NASA missions. We are currently patent-pending and have received funding from the Bowman-Brockman Endowment for Entrepreneurship and Advanced Research to begin prototyping at the North Carolina School of Science and Math (NCSSM). I am one of the 30 students selected globally as a World Science Scholar by the World Science Festival in the 2019 cohort.
