Linux/Unix Administrator - Randolph AFB, TX 10/2002 - Present Unix Administrator - Redstone Arsenal, AL 11/2001 - 10/2002 Unix Administrator - Fort Benning, GA 5/2000 – 11/2001 Launched Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS) for the U.S. Army at Fort Benning which served bases in the South East United States including Puerto Rico. Migrated Fort Benning DCPDS systems to Redstone Arsenal. Redstone, which had been serving bases in the Central U.S., added the South East U.S. to its service area. Provided DCPDS Linux and UNIX administration support at Randolph AFB for systems serving Air Force installations all over the world. Created Perl, Bourne and Bash shell programs which were used for generating reports on system health and hardware status. Designed programs for use as tools used in system administration which improved efficiency and accuracy. Migrated systems running HP-UX 11.x to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x which provided cost savings in licensing, software and hardware. Built Red Hat Linux systems in a virtual environment using kickstart. Provided system support to Oracle DBAs. Managed virtual environment similar to VMware. Implemented backup strategy for disaster recovery using HP Data Protector. Managed Linux storage using LVM. Monitored system performance and security and provided feedback to management. Prepared system reports using Microsoft Office applications. Troubleshot network issues which included network print, DNS, NFS and firewall. Hardware utilized: HP Superdome, DL580, DL465c, rp4440, rp7420, rx7640 and HP Storageworks 24000 disk array. Show less
