Howard was one of the main people that made my time at UVa's Batten school so special. I have met few people with his combination of intellect, emotional intelligence, grit, and compassion. I will never forget the speech he made at the graduation ceremony for our Master's cohort. Howard is the kind of leader I aspire to be.

At The Mariners' Museum and Park, we connect people to the world's waters, because through the waters - through our shared maritime heritage - we are connected to one another. The Mariners' Museum and Park sits on a beautiful 550-acre campus adjacent to the James River and astride the 167-acre Lake Maury. The 5-mile Noland Trail wanders around Lake Maury and through our Park. Our international collection includes depth in maritime art, small craft, and much more. We have the largest maritime archival collection in the western hemisphere, and we are home to the world's largest marine archaeological metals conservation project: the USS MONITOR.
