Curriculum Designer Spearheaded the faculty's development of core competencies during 2012 and advocated for a view of the curriculum starting with recruitment and ending with productive alumni. Synthesized diverse data, input from faculty committees, and curriculum theory to design The Dartmouth Institute's first online MPH program, from aims through graduate competencies to course learning outcomes, course descriptions, and course sequence. Problem. Beginning in 2000, engineering accreditors required undergraduate programs throughout the U.S. to explicitly measure student achievement of learning outcomes. Action. Designed approaches to assess student learning, analyzed and interpreted data, and presented results to CoE decision makers in person and in reports posted on the web. Result. Faculty wove the department-specific assessment data into 13 separate self-studies. Action. Designed and developed the “Assessment for Curricular Improvement” website, including an online handbook tailored for engineering faculty. Result. Worldwide impact: The “Assessment Handbook” portion of the website received over 2100 “hits” (or page views) per month from computers on every continent for over 5 years. Show less
