My role as Nuclear Medicine Physician at NuMeRI encompasses the planning and execution of clinical research. This includes the writing of research protocol for ethics, and when indicated for SAPHRA, approval; patients' recruitment, co-ordinating clinical research activities in collaboration with other professionals (such as Pharmacists, Scientists, Radiographers etc.) data collection including image interpretation; and reporting of research findings for publication in peer review journals. It is my responsibility as part of an efficient working group to provide quality patient care in a safe environment. I also provide assistance, in an advisory role, to other professionals and the Scientific Advisory Board. I supervise the overall performance of clinical and research patients studies and report back on these patient studies to my peers. Communication and co-operation in a multi-professional team are critical in my role this is to ensure the performance of world-class research and services. Clinical research is a pivotal part of my job and I am responsible for the supervision and performance of therapeutic procedures in this respect. This is where I identify development needs and address them through training in our team. In an advisory role, I identify initiate and implement clinical research and advise other researchers in the set-up and execution of these research projects. Show less

During my time at Mpilo Central Hospital I worked under the supervision of Specialist Nuclear Medicine Physician and participated in patient preparation, injection of radiopharmaceuticals,scanning with single photon emission tomography (SPECT) camera and reporting and issuing patient results.I was able to learn new skills in a fast paced environment and applied these skills to daily tasks to improve efficiency and productivity.
