I very much enjoyed my short time at North Yorkshire Law working in the Conveyancing Department. I carried out a wide variety of tasks such as file opening, inputting searches, AML checks and typing letters. I also communicated with estate agents and clients via email and telephone to provide updates. As this was my first legal position since graduating, I carried out a variety of administrative duties assisting the fee earner where required. After completion, I was responsible for post completion formalities such as paying the relevant Stamp Duty and registering the land with HM Land Registry. I look forward to expanding my knowledge in a similar role in the future in order to progress my career further.

I have been working at Sainsbury's for just over one year. I have always enjoyed working at Sainsbury's because it has given me the opportunity to meet new people and make friends whilst earning money throughout my studies. Part time work has allowed me to develop my communication skills whilst working in a supportive team. Furthermore, I have been able to develop my problem solving skills when dealing with customer requests. I have been working at Sainsbury's for just over one year. Work Experience
-
Aug 2017 - Aug 2017
I attended 3 days’ work experience at Pinkney Grunwells during the Summer of 2017. During this time, I shadowed various legal professionals in different departments. I gained an insight into the areas of conveyancing, civil litigation, family law and wills and probate. I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to sit in on a new client interview in the context of civil litigation. This demonstrated one of the many problems that a client may face and the best way to initially advise a client to try and solve any queries. In the Family Law department, I was given an opportunity to look through a previous case file. I found this interesting to see how a legal file should be organised and the extent of the cases that a solicitor could be expected to handle.
