Intern at Lunar and Planetary Institute
-
Jun 2016 - Aug 2016
One of 12 students selected to participate in the 2016 LPI Summer Intern Program in Planetary Science. I worked on a 10-week summer project at the NASA Johnson Space Center studying the petrology and chemistry of igneous clasts in howardite meteorites to determine the origins of the clasts, and to test the hypothesis that Vesta differentiated via a near-global magmatic stage. Gained experience in petrology and in using electron microprobes to analyse pyroxene and plagioclase compositions. Work Experience in Contaminated Land and Water team
-
Aug 2015 - Aug 2015
Project examining hydrocarbon contamination of the Fell Sandstone aquifer, NE England. Critically evaluated the risk assessment and closure report for the suspected source of hydrocarbon contamination, a decommissioned petrol station, and borehole data for the Fell Sandstone aquifer to determine whether remediation was sufficient or not and what further work was necessary. Concluded that no further work was necessary and that remediation efforts were sufficient. Project examining hydrocarbon contamination of the Fell Sandstone aquifer, NE England.
