GPA: 4.00/4.00Development of a Large scale and Affordable Metal Additive Manufacturing Process • Designed and constructed a modified powder bed system for the fabrication of metal objects using metal stereolithography. • Identify appropriate manufacturing conditions for metal-resin slurry with different compositions and powder sizes; optimized processing parameters for green part fabrication, including cure time, cure depth, and layer thickness.• Developed appropriate burnout and sintering processes for SS316L, SS420, and Haynes 214, achieving final metal parts with relative density of above 99.5% with homogeneous final microstructure.• Research was published and presented in CIRP Annals 2020 STC-E-56.Process Optimization of High Temperature Superalloys by Selective Laser Melting • Carried out design of experiments (DOEs) to determine the optimal processing parameters (laser power, laser scan speed, layer thickness) for Amdry 386, Haynes 214, and their oxide dispersion strengthening versions.• Evaluated density and micro-structural of fabricated parts; performed cross sectional analysis with SEM, elemental mapping with EDS, and phase study with XRD.• Analyzed porosity formation and agglomeration behavior of oxide nanoparticles during the sintering process.• Performed mechanical testing at room temperature and high temperature on fabricated tensile coupons.• Designed and evaluated CAD models and fabrication strategy for laser additively manufactured parts.• Material library: LaserForm Ti Gr5 (A), Ni625 (A), 316L (A), Haynes 214, Amdry 386, Nitinol.
