Syed Usman, PhD

Dr Hina worked with me as a colleague, and I was her Program Manager in the computer science department of SZABIST University. During her tenure, she showcased software engineering and computer science expertise, staying updated with industry trends. She excelled in teaching and mentoring students' thesis projects and provided valuable feedback. Punctually handling administrative tasks like course development, syllabus revisions, and results preparation, she adeptly managed challenging students, leading to impressive outcomes. Recognizing her unique ability to connect with students, she was appointed student counsellor, resulting in noticeable student behaviour and performance improvements. She is professionally competent, approachable, and kind, fostering strong relationships with students and colleagues. I wish her the best in her future endeavours.

Sheeraz Akram, PhD

I taught Hina the Modern AI Techniques course during her BS degree program. I found her keen on solving complex and conceptual problems. She was very clear in her planning and long-term academic goals from the start. Apart from teaching her the AI course, I was also a committee member in her final year project evaluation. I found her punctual, meeting all the deadlines and doing her work with great dedication. She mastered web development skills in her final year project, including PHP, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, MySQL and JQuery. Amazingly, she was selected for the software export board internship after completing the final year project. I always found her a responsible, respectful and easygoing person. She always plans, works and thrives for a better version of herself with every single coming day. I wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

As a postdoc researcher, I am working on NODLA, a joint research project between the Department of Computer Science at Karlstad University and three industrial partners(AFRY, TietoEVRY, and Skandia). I play a vital role in identifying and addressing the challenges that arise in these companies' large-scale agile projects. My responsibilities include researching to understand the challenges and identify best practices, communicating findings through publications and presentations, and collaborating with industrial partners to gain practical insights. We also develop guidelines and recommendations for industrial partners on effectively managing and mitigating challenges in large-scale agile development projects. The main aim is to investigate Non-Technical Debt (NTD) to understand the causes leading to the accumulation of NTD, the impacts of NTD, and mitigation strategies in the context of large-scale ASD from professionals' and researchers' perspectives. The project has three main goals: propose a taxonomy and a descriptive model for NTD, investigate how developers’ morale is influenced by NTD, and develop strategies to balance NTD in large-scale ASD. • Mar 2009 - Sep 2012

As a developer, I designed, built, and maintained websites, web applications and content management systems. I was responsible for both the front-end and back-end coding, using a variety of programming languages such as PHP, JavaScript, HTML, MySQL, jQuery, and CSS. I also used CSS to control the look and feel of the website, making sure that it is visually appealing and consistent with the brand's guidelines. On the back end, I used PHP and JavaScript to create the underlying functionality of the website, such as connecting to a database (such as MySQL) to retrieve and display data. I also used jQuery to create interactive elements on the website, such as forms and buttons. As a developer, I also used open-source and custom programming to enhance the website's features. I was responsible for regularly testing and troubleshooting the designed and developed websites to ensure they were functioning properly and compatible with various web browsers, devices, and domains. Overall, as a web developer, I played a crucial role in creating and maintaining the online presence of a business or client organisation. Show less
