After spending several years working on a more strategic and holistic level, I wanted to gain experience from a hands-on and more operational role in the legal department. Since 2019 I have been a senior legal counsel in Equinor, providing legal assistance to various parts of Equinor’s renewables business (primarily offshore wind and solar), both from an operational- and procurement perspective with interphases to project development, project financing and power markets. I have been part of the negotiations with Equinor's partners on offshore wind and solar projects (incl. Doggerbank) and a wide range of suppliers (incl. to the Hywind Tampen, Doggerbank and Empire Wind projects).I have also worked on supply chain transparency & human rights as the regulatory requirements and external expectations for openness (particularly for partly-state owned companies such as Equinor) continue to increase. From August 2021 until July 2022 I spent approximately 30% of my time on the role as Compliance Officer for the business area Projects, Drilling & Procurement in Equinor. This is a business area with international activities in many jurisdictions, around 4,500 employees and where a significant focus on compliance risks is crucial. In this role I advised the business on anti-corruption, money-laundering, competition/anti-trust, sanctions & trade controls and employee fraud. I also worked strategically to strengthen and streamline the business area’s compliance work. A step-up program was approved by the management team end-2021 and implemented in 2022, leading to a further professionalization of the compliance work. Show less

In parallel with other roles, I have worked strategically on the development of Equinor’s legal department through a dedicated corporate project. Key workstreams in the project were the strategic use of external legal counsel, holistic workforce management and competence building to meet the shifting legal demand (due to Equinor’s changing portfolio), knowledge management and digitalization. Through the lifetime of the project, we were able to implement significant improvements in the way Equinor's legal department is run. Show less

      • Aug 2018 - Oct 2019

After many years working towards the governing bodies of Equinor ASA, I was asked to head up the General Counsel’s office and be a member of the management team in the legal department. Through this position I gained a holistic understanding of legal and compliance risk management, as well as hands-on experience in the daily operations of a large legal department with around 135 lawyers. The ability to simplify complex legal issues into a context that non-lawyers could easily understand became a key strength in this role, which often involved top management communication of legal matters. Through this role, I developed strategic thinking and realised the importance of strict, risk-based prioritization of key legal and compliance risks. I also played an active role on behalf of the legal department, both internally in Equinor and externally (in media, panel debates etc.) in the law firm diversity debate. Show less

      • Aug 2015 - Aug 2018

In 2015 I was promoted to Company Secretary of Equinor ASA with responsibility for the activities of all the governing bodies. The position provided a unique insight into Equinor’s overall strategy and decision-making processes, board and leadership work. I was responsible for the planning and execution of all board meetings in Equinor ASA, and participated in the board meetings and other activities with the board members (board trips, strategy days, dinners etc.) I had the overall responsibility for the planning and execution of Equinor ASA's Annual General Meeting and activities in other corporate bodies such as the Nomination Committee and the Corporate Assembly. I gained significant legal competence on company law, stock exchange regulations and corporate governance. I was also regularly asked to conduct assessments of potential conflicts of interest for Equinor's board members and members of the executive management. This was my first role with line manager responsibility for a team. Show less

I provided advice to and participated in all meetings in Statoil's Nomination Committee and Corporate Assembly. I contributed to the corporate governance chapter in Statoil's Annual Report and the planning and execution of Statoil's Annual General Meeting (with more than 100,000 shareholders).
