Project Leader, Senior Scientist
-
Jan 2011 - Aug 2012
Management responsibilities for a separate research unit in the laboratory of Prof. Harald Stenmark. The focus of the project group, currently consisting of two post-docs, two master students and one PhD student, is molecular mechanisms governing cancer cell invasion and genome stability. Some of the responsibilities in this position that I really enjoy performing include strategic long-term project planning, networking, project design, project management, interpretation of results and guidance to scientific staff, writing of grant proposals and scientific papers. My research at UCSD was funded by a personal post-doc fellowship granted to me by the Norwegian research council. The grant was administered by myself and I was responsible for initiating, planning, establishing and executing the project. While in the laboratory of Dr.Newton I was part of several cross disciplinary scientific networks and assisted in guidance and interpretation of results for the scientific staff in the group. During this period I got extensive experience in immunological methods and research and got fascinated by immunology. Some of the projects that I performed during this period were independently established by myself. After my graduation, these projects were followed up by others in the group and resulted in additional publications. During this period I was also responsible for the supervision of two maters students.
