When we established Medtronic’s Restorative Therapies Group, we started with a clean slate beyond the four divisions that comprised the group. Hijaz was one of the first employees hired at the group level and he played a key role developing and then implementing the vision of how we could create incremental value. He started as a member of the Finance team and established key planning and reporting processes. He then pivoted to Marketing, where he initiated programs to leverage the breadth of our product offering to better serve customers and increase market penetration. Through this, Hijaz demonstrated his keen intellect and ability to both develop and implement strategy, building consensus along the way.

I have worked with Hijaz for the last five (5) years in Medtronic within a downstream commercial capacity executing on the innovative, robust and impactful marketing initiatives he has lead his team to develop, create and execute. Prior to Hijaz undertaking his Global Marketing Director role in the Brain Modulation business, there appeared to be very little direction and strategy to the future of this therapy. Hijaz transformed the upstream and downstream marketing teams to prioritise what was important, provide direction based on clear market insights and organised the global team to focus and deliver on what was needed to build a market leadership position. Hijaz is entirely inclusive in his approach, extremely accepting of diversity, respectful of all opinions and ideas, while operating with extremely high integrity. I personally have learnt so much from observing and replicating Hijaz’s approach and style to leadership and would highly recommend him as a business/marketing leader.
