06/2021-08/22 | PI: Dr. Ochman, Howard; Supervisor: Dr. Kirchberger, Paul •Engaged in synthetic phage construction of Enterogokushovirus using a yeast assembly protocol to edit genes, with the goal of elucidating the mechanisms behind the enigmatic hypervariable region (HVR2). •Experience with numerous laboratory protocols including bacteria culturing, DNA genomic and plasmid extraction, PCR amplification, DNA purification, cloning techniques and Qubit quantification. •Designed and conducted an independent project that investigated the genes essential for infection of novel Entergokushoviruses using transposon insertion sequencing. 08/22 - 01/23 | PI: Dr. Ochman, Howard; Supervisor: Md. Hassan uz-Zaman •During my second research mentorship, I studied the evolution of de novo peptides in conferring antibiotic resistance in E. coli bacteria.
