Heshan has worked alongside with me at North Manufacturing (pvt) ltd. He mainly focused on the engineering aspect of the production plant; up keeping of machinery directly related to production and also monitoring the output of the same. While working with the team Heshan managed to do an excellent job within a very short stipulated time frame to improve the output of the section he was assigned to, which resulted in an improvement in the output of the overall production facility. Willingness to undertake any given challenge, with his knowledge in mechanical engineering Heshan has always managed to find solutions to the engineering challenges presented to him. I believe heshan will be a great value addition to any organization in the industry and he would bring a wealth of knowledge with him. I wish him all the very best for his future endeavors and would recommend him as a hardworking and result oriented individual who is capable of undertaking challenges.

Heshan Perera did a great job as a project engineer growing the engineering team and Northsails LK. He managed to accomplish many projects that helps to the organisation in many ways. I am amazed with his design and analytical skills and also his practicality in implimenting things which most of the people are not capable of.. I wish him all the best and continue his amazing work.

In the initial stage, R&D was done to check the material strength of the product with respect to process temperature, speed, and pressure.2. After determining the optimum parameters, machine concepts were created to meet the company's budget, time to deliver, human ergonomics, production speed, and simplicity.3. After concluding the concept, the design was created using Solidworks and sent for machine fabrication outside. Tolerance and quality of work were monitored during the fabrication part.4. After assembling the machine trial products were created and thus machine optimization was done simultaneously. 5. SOP for the new product was created and personnel was trained to carry out the tasks of the new product.•Designed and installed tether winding machine for southern spars (Increased the production efficiency by 180%).1. The initial concept for the product was given to the company by a subsidiary of North Sails. 2. The task was to create a more reliable and automated machine. 3. The machine was integrated with proximity sensors, servo motor, HMI, and a PLC.4. The machine was able to deliver the product with 180% efficiency with zero downtime and intervention.• Other projects carried out at North Sails are material elevators, Instaling and commissioning of a laser plotter, installing and commissioning of an overhead gantry, installed new machinery to optimize production outputs, and supervised high-value machine maintenances. A temperature deviation occurred in the laminating drum which was due to a blockage in the path of the thermal liquid inside it.2. Different methods and consultants were used to rectify the issue with no success, and finally using a hydraulic pump, the blockage was removed by carefully increasing pressure. 3. By adopting the 5 whys method, the root cause was determined to be a poor practice of the maintenance staff and machine operators. 4. An SOP and a strict PM were created. Show less
