Selected as 1 of the 20 high achieving Black youth from across Canada to participate in the prestigious 1834 fellowship run under Operation Black Vote Canada. The fellowship is a civic leadership and public policy program where as a 1834 fellow I have the opportunity to work and learn through mentorship, networking and policy research. Co-founder and co-host of the podcast show WEWchats

WEWchats is a podcast created by I and one of my fellow internal committee member under our student group Women Empowering women (WEW) based at the University of Alberta. Where we aim to engage and promote wellness, empowerment, and self-sufficiency to the members of a vulnerable community and society as a whole. By having honest and raw conversations with empowering female guests who are creating change and impact in our society. Past featured guest: Dr Alexandra Bastiany , Canada's first black female interventional cardiologist

The SDG Hub : 2021-2022 cohort member

Selected as one of 13 cohort members from across Alberta as part of the SDG Hub. The SDG Hub helps young people in Alberta fulfill the mandate of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Through this, I was given the chance to develop personal and employment-related skills, learn from mentors, and increased my awareness of the benefit of serving my community. I met and engaged in a meaningful dialogue with my cohort members and collaborated with my mentor who was a Public Health professional with the Government of Alberta. I worked on a initiative that is towards SDG 3 (Good Health and Well- Being) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality).I focused on menstrual hygiene and period poverty awareness within schools ranging from highschool to university campuses.

Stride Advocate

Stride advocacy is the effort through which we support those who feel voiceless in the community through ranging issues where I provide them with support and/or connect them to the proper resources. The role consists of : • Having comfortable and confident interviews with community members on the phone or in person to document their concern using our Stride complaint template. • Support in the interview process, take charge of filling out the Stride complaint template. •Help translate the information provided during the interview into human rights language that is used to draft a formal complaint(s), letters to elected officials, businesses or other stakeholders. •Connect to and touch base with the community members to see how they are doing and ensure they meet their goals in self-advocacy. Have a longer term relationship with the community members and walk alongside them in their journey.

More specifically in aiding their literacy skills in the English and French language whilst meaningfully improving their academic skills and becoming more confident in these abilities and in themselves as a individual. • Acts as an advisory body to city council with my projects subcommittee where we propose and report to the municipal government on youth issues that matter. • As a projects committee member, I am working on a city-wide clean up campaign and worked on a Youth Tackling COVID-19 initiative with my committee. : Created a webinar series that aims to educate youth in vulnerable communities on the health and risks of the coronavirus. By hosting mental health ,Immunology and infectious disease specialists along with emergency doctors who deliver facts vs common misconceptions, vaccine mechanism, difference between vaccines (Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZenca, etc.) and immune system presentations.

Selected as one of the young leaders to attend the National Youth Ambassador Caucus and eventually became a Junior Team Canada Ambassador. Had my team selected for our global challenge initiative pitch regarding Diversity and Inclusion. Our initiative was a mentorship program for BIPOC Youth regarding resources and networking for professional development and success. The initiative is now in the works of being implemented under Global Vision. Mr. Speakers MLA 4 a day

• One of the 60 highschool students selected from across Alberta to attend "Mr. Speaker's MLA 4 a Day" program held at the Alberta Legislature. Where I had the great opportunity to play the role as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Took part in a debate in the Chamber experiencing firsthand what it's like to write policies and gained a deeper understanding in the political decision-making arena surrounding provincial issues. • Visited and connected with my MLA -David Eggen (former provincial minister of education) and received a tour of his office and department. • Met other high school students from across Alberta who shared the same passion and zest for political action within the provincial level and beyond.
