This program was designed to teach basic water survival skills and swimming to remote indigenous children who have had limited (to no) access to swimming instructors. Personally, this program presented some unique challenges, including; having different students week in and week out, language barriers, different behavior expectations, varying class sizes, swimmers lacking exposure to water and swimmers lacking experience in water. The program did always result in me leaving the aquatic center in a positive frame of mind. The students were just so happy to have the opportunity to use state of the art pool facilities- an opportunity I had always taken for granted. Show less
