I've had the privilege of working alongside Henry for over two and a half years at First AML. Henry is not just an awesome engineer, but a great human too and can always be relied on to be a supportive member of any team he’s in, able to work hard while still having fun. Henry is quick to learn and is always looking for new opportunities to grow and lead. Over the last two and half years I’ve been able to watch Henry’s knowledge of technologies such as C# / .Net, AWS, Postgres and GraphQL expand significantly, he’s always receptive to feedback, and provides great feedback too, and as his skills have grown he’s sought out opportunities to spread his knowledge or drive initiatives within our back-end guild. Recently as a feature lead for an important integration in our platform he excelled in bringing his team together, ensuring work was executed quickly and stakeholders were kept updated at all times. His holistic focus meant not only was he delivering code, but thinking about how to operationalise the feature being developed, building out metrics, alerts and dashboards as well as navigating establishing relationships with third party vendors. If that’s not enough, one of Henry’s super powers I admire most is his ability to see the bigger picture and understand the needs of the user/customer, often demonstrating insights you would only expect from a senior engineer, that goes well beyond just the happy path. I put this down both to his natural curiosity and also his cross-discipline background due to having spent some time working as a QA prior to moving into software engineering, which has given him a great insights into building high-quality software. If you are looking for a strong all-round engineer who ticks all the boxes (growth mindset, quick learner, strong communicator and deep thinker) then you will not be disappointed in having Henry on your team.

Henry is an amazing engineer. Passionate, curious and dedicated to his craft and motivated to learn and better himself. In the time I managed him I have watched him go from strength to strength, growing and showing impact on so many dimensions. He successfully feature lead complex pieces of work, and was a solid supportive all-around teammate focused on helping others with timely code reviews, engaging in discussions challenging us to do things better, and just doing anything and everything needed by the team. The team relied heavily on him for his expertise and was significantly better for his presence. Not to mention what a fun and positive teammate to have around. It was an immense honour managing him and being part of his software journey, and any team would be fortunate to have him.
