This role involves developing low-level C code for a robotic platform, writing unit tests with the ceedling framework and writing high-level integration tests using the behave framework in Python, along with further developing our Python test infrastructure. I spent a year completing an industrial placement at National Instruments between my 2nd and 3rd years of study.During this year I gained experience over a wide range of topics as an Application Engineer, mainly focusing on NI products but also including more general engineering concepts. Additionally, this gave me a lot of experience in a customer facing role. Interns were encouraged to focus on a project of our choosing, and I decided to continue working with the Manchester Robot Orchestra by building a robotic keyboard player as can be seen in the linked video.
