Pre-Doc Professionals support the DIL partnerships with governments, private firms, and NGOs in several countries, such as Colombia, India, and Kenya.   Supervisors: Gabriel Ulyssea (PhD Chicago, 2012) and Clément Imbert (PhD Paris School of Economics, 2012). Description: Research project financed by the ERC Starting Grant. By combining reduced-form and structural models, it seeks to understand how extreme climatic events and climate change affect internal displacement and regional development in Brazil. Tasks: Data extraction, cleaning, and analysis (example: managing “. grib” and “.nc” files to calculate the average temperature and rainfall in localities, cleaning datafiles, constructing figures of climate shocks across time, plotting Brazilian maps, performing regression analysis).   Supervisor: Professor Gustavo Gonzaga (PhD Berkeley, 1993) Description: Provided assistance for many projects of Professor Gonzaga. The main part of this research assistance was centered in the Datazoom project, a Stata package that supports data extraction of Brazilian household surveys and Census data and creates compatible files across years, in the case of the Census. For other research projects, the assistance gave support on the production of presentations, figures, and maps. Tasks: Data cleaning and analysis with Stata (Examples: performing updates of dictionaries of the Datazoom package for extraction of official surveys and Census micro-data and assisting on the creation of figures and production of maps).
