  Henk Markerink was the CEO of the Johan Cruijff ArenA, The Netherlands, since 1995. He has been involved from the beginning as the project manager for the design and construction of the ArenA from 1991 till 1995. Henk Markerink founded Amsterdam ArenA International in 2000. With this company he worked on various stadium projects like the Berlin Olympic Stadium and the Beijing Olympic Stadium and has been contributing to the management of the stadium of Gremio in Porte Alegre and the World Cup Stadiums in Natal and Salvador, all in Brazil. Since 2012 he has been also actively involved in the World Cup projects of Qatar 2022. Henk Markerink has been actively involved in the development of the ArenA Boulevard Area into a new Sports, Leisure and Entertainment destination and stimulating prosperity in Amsterdam Southeast as a whole.
